Attractive, wonderful, but also unpredictable, like a woman – this is the description of Frankovka given during the celebration of St Martin’s Day (known as Martinje in Croatia), held in the Zagreb konoba Miseria Nobile. Frankovka is a variety carefully cherished with love and passion by Feravino. On Martinje, the favourite saint among winemakers, this Slavonian winery traditionally presents a young Frankovka.
The attendees did not hide their pleasure with Feravino’s new ace. Compliments came with every sip. The young 2017 Frankovka impresses with a strong and lively colour of sour cherry and a purple hue, a reflection of youth. There is fruitiness, softness and freshness in the pronounced juiciness and character.
“The technology of young Frankovka uses a controlled fermentation with a short maceration and controlled micro-oxygenation, all in order to achieve fruitiness and freshness – which is the main characteristic of young wines,” pointed out Marijan Knežević, Feravino’s chief oenologist, whose team deserves every praise for the achieved freshness and playfulness.
