British Embassy Zagreb: ‘What Links Us Together’ – Davorin Stetner, from Formula 1 to Presidential Adviser

May 12, 2018 – Continuing the British Embassy in Zagreb’s look at what links Croatia to the UK, meet Davorin Stetner, one of Croatia’s more high profile businessmen, despite his recent haircut. 

I first met Davorin Stetner in a basement room of a popular Zagreb restaurant over a dinner organised by a friend. The main course – and the very reason to visit – was tripe, a dish I hate with a passion, but the evening was memorable for the conversation. 

The young man opposite me owned the rights to Formula 1, and had a host of other business interests. It turned out he was also the president of the Croatian angel investor network and even brought Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson’s to speak at an investment conference in Zagreb.

A worthy addition, then, to the British Embassy’s excellent series on what binds Croatia and the UK in this pre-Brexit era.
