September the 25th, 2024 – The Croatian Končar company has presented its latest impressive battery motor train in Berlin, and the crowds were impressed.
As Ana Roksandic/Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian Končar company was in the German capital of Berlin recently where it presented two of its trains – battery and gauge – at the world’s largest transport industry fair, InnoTrans.
The Croatian Končar presented its latest battery motor train (BMV) in the outdoor exhibition area. As part of that presentation, and immediately after the official opening of the fair, it also held a special presentation for the professional public. Battery motor trains (BMV) will be used to transport passengers on the non-electrified railway network, and Končar’s is one of the first battery trains in all of Europe.
Built-in drive batteries are used for the drive, which are charged exclusively using stable energy connections for charging drive batteries, and the total passenger capacity of battery trains is currently 216.
Trains like these are far more environmentally friendly, and at the same time they are quieter and more efficient to drive. They can be used on different types of train tracks, and their autonomy depends on the battery capacity and speed of movement.
In line with the overall green trend in the transport sector across Europe as a whole, Končar’s impressive battery trains can also help reduce the maintenance and operating costs of railway vehicles.
