Dalmatian Cannabis Tea was the first product the family farm has put on the market.

The Moro family has been making a living for three generations using the arable land in Cetinsko Polje, near Gala. But, after three of Milan and Ivanka’s five children graduated from university several years ago, they almost left their home. Their oldest child, daughter Jelena, became a lawyer, while their son Frano has obtained a master’s degree in economy, and Ivana is a Croatian and Italian language translator. However, when they received their diplomas, the economic crisis hit. They were not able to find jobs, so they started thinking about looking for work in a foreign country, reports poslovni.hr on June 7, 2016.

The key moment was when their aunt from Slovenia came to visit. She brought some products made from industrial cannabis. Frano and his sisters immediately saw their chance. The deeper they got into the research, the clearer it became to them that cannabis and their farmland were a perfect combination. The first months of Prva Dalmatinska Konoplja Family Farm (First Dalmatian Cannabis) were tough, but towards the end of autumn 2015 they finally put their first product on the market. It was Dalmatia’s Cannabis Tea, followed by cannabis oil and proteins.

“Every day the number of people who contact us and order products is growing. Despite the fact that this produce has nothing to do with the Indian cannabis that is being used for the so-called recreational purposes because of its ingredient THC, cannabis sativa, as its name suggests, is the most useful plant in the world. This is something that is becoming widely known”, Moro pointed out.

“Our main sales channel is Facebook and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It was not possible for us to turn to small or big retail stores or chains, because we would have sold everything too fast and lost our customers. The paid Facebook campaign was targeted to the Split area. During week, we receive orders and we then deliver the products to homes, from door to door”, Frano said. Today, he is the only farmer, as far as he is aware, who is working with the industrial cannabis. Their closest competitors come from Karlovac and Istria, while Slavonia has gone the farthest in developing this business.
