More Croatian innovation from the younger generation.

Vital Shock Team, who took part in a recent entrepreneurial camp in Rijeka where they presented a mobile application that combines a fitness app and a mobile game, is composed of three students from Rijeka. Damjan Marković is a student of Faculty of Economics, Luka Filipan has a diploma in computing, while Filip Stojanac is a student of Faculty of Engineering, reports Poslovni.hr on November 13, 2015.

“We came to the idea for our application thanks to our hobby, running. We have noticed that there is a problem with the lack of motivation. There are many applications for running of which the vast majority is based only on monitoring distance, speed, calories burned and other similar parameters. We wanted to provide an experience that will bring a lot more to users. Therefore, our application ‘On the Run’ is a mix of a fitness app and a mobile game”, Damjan, Luke and Filip explained.

The student team is a participant at the fourth generation of a startup incubator in Rijeka. The application is still under construction, and the initial idea has changed greatly in the process. Their initial idea was very complex and made according to their personal preferences and desires. “After we shared our idea with several mentors, we did market research and studied user requirements, and then our idea completely changed and we realized which way we need to continue. Greatest motivator were other teams inside the incubator who inspired us”, the team said.

Marković is a marketing professional responsible for online marketing, market research and the organization of the team, while Filipan and Stojanac are developers. In addition to them, six young and ambitious people are also part of the team. Their app offers users the ability to monitor physical activities like walking, jogging or cycling, and compare themselves with others. Application measures the number of steps that a user makes during a day, and if a user chooses one of the more advanced physical activities, they receive extra points within the application.

In the future, they plan to start a crowdfunding campaign and be a part of competitions in their search for funds. “In these contests, it is not enough just to have a good idea, but you need to know how to present it. Comments by the jury were very positive, we could see that they were interested in this concept. You should always try to stand out from the crowd, it only takes a little imagination”, Marković, Filipan and Stojanac said. They point out that young people today should be encouraged to start working on the implementation of their own projects.
