Insignificant Basketball Match Turns Into The High Risk One As Serbian Hooligans Arrived In Zagreb

Total Croatia News

Cedevita and Crvena Zvezda play the Europa League match, but off the court events are the ones taking all the attention.

The last round of Europa League match between Cedevita and Crvena Zvezda, scheduled April 8, 2016 at 19.00 CET, was expected to be a quiet one, as the result won’t change anything but off the court events are proving to be high tension and even risky.

Cedevita has decided to donate the income from the game to reparation of the Vukovar water tower, the symbol of Croatian resistance to the Serbian Army in the Homeland War, and this idea was not welcomed by the Belgrade team. Their officials have spoken about this idea in a diminishing manner, and it provoked Belgrade team supporters to take the trip to Zagreb. President of Zvezda has foolishly announced that up to 1000 of their fans will arrive.

Unfortunately, some of them (the police has published the estimated number of 50-70 people) managed to get there, and as Index.hr is reporting, they have pulled the emergency brake in the train on the open track and jumped off it. They knew that police was expecting them on the Zagreb station, so they tried to avoid them. As the Bad Blue Boys, Dinamo supporters were included in social media announcements for this event; there is a dangerous situation today in the Croatian capital.

Police have chased Belgrade hooligans throughout streets, trying to prevent them from getting into the clash with BBB members. Security forces are in the state of high alert, as it is unknown how many of hot headed people have arrived in Zagreb today.
