Sinčić claims that HDZ wanted to install new leadership in his party.

Živi Zid party president Ivan Vilibor Sinčić announced that the Ministry of Administrative Affairs has issued a decision rejecting the request of Siniša Gabrić to change the names of people allowed to legally represent the party. Sinčić added that there was only one Živi Zid party, with him as its president. He also said that the attempt to “hijack the party” was organized by HDZ and its deputy president Milijan Brkić, reports Novi List on July 23, 2016.

The Ministry issued its decision on 19 July stating that the party congress meeting held on 19 June had not been properly convened, which means that the decision taken cannot be considered as legal. The “fake” Živi Zid met on 19 June and elected a new party leadership at the party congress, replacing Sinčić and submitting four criminal complaints against him. The “congress” elected Siniša Gabrić as the new party president.

“This is a great victory for Živi Zid against certain underground intelligence circles which organized the so-called congress and wanted to hijack our party from us”, said Sinčić. “I want to send a clear message that Živi Zid is stronger than ever. There is only one Živi Zid and only one president”, said Sinčić during a press conference in front of the Parliament building.

He expressed his satisfaction with the decision and said they would soon launch their election campaign. Sinčić said that the attack on his party was organized by HDZ and Milijan Brkić. “It was an organized effort to bring confusion among our voters and to try to send a message that there are several similar parties. The project failed, and we will legally prosecute those responsible. HDZ and Milijan Brkić orchestrated the attempted attack from the outside”, said Sinčić.

He added that Brkić wanted to stir up confusion among “third way” voters in order to strengthen MOST, so they could form a coalition after the elections and take power. “They will not succeed”, said Sinčić, adding that they have filed criminal complaints against those responsible, including Brkić.

The party announced that next week they would form a coalition with several other parties, NGOs and independent experts.
