ZAGREB, May 3, 2018 – The Croatian Journalists’ Association (HND) presented annual awards on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day on Thursday, voting Maja Sever, a journalist with Croatian Television, Journalist of the Year.
Sever received 203 of 448 valid votes.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to Višnja Biti, a journalist and editor at Croatian Radio.
Speaking before the award giving ceremony, HND president Saša Leković said that media freedoms were still seriously threatened in many countries. He noted that Croatia had failed to attain the standards of media freedom it had undertaken when it joined the European Union.
