“The Prime Minister has decided that the new Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy will be Oleg Butković, and he will make this proposal to MPs next week,” the government’s spokesman Marko Milić told Hina.
Butković’s nomination and appointment follows after Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, who was also a Deputy Prime Minister, stepped down at his own request.
Prime Minister Plenković will also table the candidacy of Marko Primorac as the new Finance Minister.
After they are presented in the Sabor on Friday, lawmakers will vote on their appointment.
Butković is one of the three ministers who has been in Plenković’s government since the start of Plenković’s premiership in the autumn 2016.
Butković is a vie-president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
The government has four deputy prime ministers – First Deputy Prime Minister – Veterans’ Affairs Minister Tomo Medved and deputy prime ministers – Interior Minister Davor Božinović, Minister without a portfolio, Anja Šimpraga, and Transport Minister Oleg Butković will be the fourth.
