Some capaign priorities for SDP.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Branko Grčić has announced that SDP will base the forthcoming electoral campaign on positive economic indicators, the economic recovery, increasing exports, employment growth and the decline of unemployment, reports Novi List on August 11, 2015.
He has cited the latest data of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics which show that in the first six months of this year exports have increased by 11.5 percent compared to the same period last year, while the unemployment rate has declined.
“We must clearly present the good results, the way we have been introducing order to this country for the past three years. This economic recovery will certainly be one of our most important arguments”, said Grčić on Tuesday.
He assessed that “the early campaign” has already started, and he expects that the real campaign will start by the end of the year. “This year, there are 36,000 people more who take part in some kind of work process. These are great indicators which we will surely use to build our campaign”, said Grčić. In his view, the current political events and skirmishes are important for the campaign, but “the economic recovery and employment growth are always the most important factors”.
“We as a government and we as SDP are fully concentrated on the fact that citizens should as quickly as possible feel that effects of opening of new jobs and of decline in unemployment”, said Grčić. Responding to a reporter’s remark that HDZ wants economic recovery as well, Grčić asserted: “There is one important difference: they (HDZ) want it, but we are actually making it happen. We are now in a position that we can create and present the results.”
