Cibona basketball players will play on Wednesday the second match against Polish Stelmet Zielona Gora on their way to the quarterfinals of the Europa Cup, with coach Damir Mulaomerović aware that the 12 point advantage from the first game may mean nothing
“We have a tough game against Zielona Gora as they did not show their true quality in the first match. The 12 point advantage can be big or small, but we have to play like it is 0-0. The Polish team has quality individuals who can create a lot of trouble, and they also won their domestic cup several days ago so their mood is positive,” said Mulaomerović at a press conference, Jutarnji List reported on February 21, 2017.
The return game will be the fourth tough match for Cibona in six days, the second in 48 hours, after losing to Cedevita 85-89 in the ABA League.
“The strenuous rhythm means we have tired and injured players, but I believe on Wednesday we will find seven or eight motivated players and repeat the good game from Poland and move on. I feel it would be good for this team to go as far as we can in Europe,” added the Cibona coach.
13 days ago Cibona beat Zielona Gora with 81-69 and the return match is set for Wednesday at 18:30h in Zagreb.
Scottie Reynolds, who did not play against Cedevita due to a muscle injury, believes he will join the team on Wednesday: “It will be a tough game as the desire for quarterfinals is strong on both sides. We have to focus and play like we did in Poland.”
