February 22, 2024 – Dinamo has knocked out favorite Real Betis for a spot in the Conference League round of 16 (2-1).
In the first leg in Sevilla, Dinamo beat Betis 1-0 thanks to a Petkovic penalty. Tonight in Zagreb, Dinamo was hungry to do what few believed they could.
Betis was the first to score in Zagreb tonight, going up 1-0 in the 38th minute. Aitor Rubial broke through the left side of the Dinamo defense and found Cedric Bakambu from the edge of the penalty area who scored with his heel for the lead.
Dinamo came back to equalize in the 59th minute. Arber Hoxha passed on the left wing and knocked the ball into the penalty area where Takuro Kaneko scored for 1-1. This result was enough to send Dinamo into the round of 16.
Lille, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Viktoria Plzen, Club Brugge, Aston Villa, Fiorentina, PAOK, and Fenerbahce already secured their spot in the round of 16 after finishing at the top of their group. The draw will take place on Friday in Nyon.
