AS Roma and Liverpool met in the second semifinal of the Champions League last night in Rome, which saw Croatian representative and Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren advance to the final.
Thousands of Liverpool supporters traveled to Rome for the Champions League semifinal, one of the biggest competitions for visiting fans at AS Roma’s Olimpico stadium, reports Index.hr on May 3, 2018.
Liverpool supporters witnessed the dramatic advancement of their team, who went into the second leg of the semifinals with a significant advantage of 5:2. Roma did, however, beat Liverpool 4:2 last night, but the Slovenian officials led by Damir Skomina saved Liverpool two penalties and two red cards.
Reds fans, however, were not bothered too much about advancing to the finals unfairly, and instead celebrated an incredible achievement nobody expected at the beginning of the season.
In the festivities that lasted long after the match, a Croatian flag was highlighted in the center of the stadium stands where the visiting supporters were seated.
Liverpool traditionally has many fans in Croatia, and many have taken advantage of the proximity of Rome and the importance of the Champions League semifinal to watch the Reds live.
Congrats to Dejan Lovren and Liverpool!
