Croatian Football League – Round 33 Preview – Two Derbies in Split

Total Croatia News

The Croatian Football League is in its final stage, and two most interesting matches will be played in Split.

It is probably all decided in terms of who will be the champion, but there could be some excitement in Split as Dinamo is travelling there to play the match which is never easy for them, and Rijeka is coming to Poljud, for the Derby of the Adriatic.

There are more exciting matches in this round, so here is the preview of all the games to be played in round 33 of the CFL:

ISTRA 1961 – ZAGREB  – Pula – Saturday, 15.00 CET

Two teams from the bottom of the table, Zagreb to be relegated, and Istra to play the relegation play-off. Unless the registration process of the Croatian Football Federation does not change things, a theme which we will also address in days to come.

SPLIT – DINAMO – Split – Saturday, 19.00 CET

Split is one of the teams that did not get the licence to compete in the first league for the next season, due to financial problems. Although this is a matter probably to be solved in an appeal, the financial troubles have made its mark on the team. Playing against the favorized Dinamo team is always a challenge for the home team, but it would be a surprise if Dinamo was defeated here.

HAJDUK – RIJEKA – Split – Sunday, 15.00 CET

Hajduk is in a comfortable position, as they have secured the third place already, but they would like to get a good result against Rijeka, as they have failed to do so in over a year. The away coach has announced the match in an awkward mode, stating that this match is more important for them than the last one against Dinamo. Maybe Matjaž Kek has forgotten that Rijeka had a chance to get the title against Dinamo, not Hajduk?

LOKOMOTIVA – OSIJEK – Zagreb – Sunday, 19.00 CET

Lokomotiva will try to secure a win here, and they will hope their big brother will come back from Split with a win, securing them a margin over their rivals for the Europa League qualification spot. Away team would like to get at least a point, just to make sure there are no surprise results in the last few rounds to deny them a chance of survival.

SLAVEN BELUPO –  INTER – Koprivnica – Monday, 18.00 CET

The match with no pressure, as both teams are secure in the mid-table. Home team is in preparations for the Cup Finals, and the away team is playing just for glory in this game.
