Croatian National Football Team Falls in the FIFA Men’s World Rankings

Although the Croatian National Football Team achieved two wins away from home during their last campaign (6-0 against Kosovo and 1-0 against Finland), the new FIFA rankings show that our “Vatreni” have fallen from 14th to 16th place, reports Slobodna Dalmacija.

In the new rankings released today, Croatia has moved down two places with a loss of 32 points, bringing them to a new total of 1,027 points in the rankings.

 

Argentina is in first place with 1,621 points, followed by the World Champions Germany who have 1465 points. The Brazilians are in third with 1410 points, while Belgium fell from second to fourth place with 1382 points. Croatia would need another 594 points to reach Argentina in first place.

 

When looking at Croatia’s Russia World Cup 2018 qualifying group and where the rival teams stand, the best ranked next to Croatia is Iceland who is placed 21st with 898 points. Turkey is 25th with 843 points, Ukraine 29th with 803, Finland placed 101st with 337 points and in 164th place is Kosovo with 135 points.

 

As the World Cup 2018 qualifying group stands now, Croatia and Iceland are at the top of the group with 7 points, Ukraine is in third with 5, Turkey in fourth with 2, while Finland and Kosovo at are at the bottom with one point.

 

Croatia will face Iceland on November 12 in Zagreb without spectators.
