At Roland Garros, Pavić has an opportunity to win his third Grand Slam trophy in mixed doubles.
June 6, 2018 – The Australian Open mixed doubles champions, Split native Mate Pavić and Canadian tennis player Gabriela Dabrowski, pushed into the Roland Garros final after defeating Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik and Mexican Santiago Gonzalez in the semifinal with 6:4, 6:4 in 61 minutes of play.
Pavić will have the chance to win his third Grand Slam trophy in mixed doubles – he won the 2016 US Open with German player Laura Siegemund, in addition to triumphing in Melbourne with Dabrowski this year.
The Canadian tennis player has a chance to win in Paris for the second consecutive year, where she was the mixed doubles winner with partner Rohan Bopanna in 2017.
The mixed doubles final is scheduled on Thursday, June 7th, when Pavić and Dabrowski will play the semifinal winner between Croatian-Taiwanese pair Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan and Colombian-German combination Robert Farah – Anna-Lena Groenefeld, which will take place this afternoon.
In addition to Pavić and Dodig continuing their success in France, Croatian tennis player Nikola Mektić and Austrian Alexander Peya will play in the men’s doubles semifinal of Roland Garros after finishing the Indian-French combination of Rohan Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Tuesday 7:6 (4), 6:2.
Mate Pavić and men’s doubles partner Oliver Marach are also in the semifinal after defeating Colombian duo Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 3:6, 6:4, 6:3. Pavić and Marach will play for a place in the final against Spaniards Feliciano and Marco Lopez, while Mektić and Peya will learn of their rivals on Wednesday after the last quarterfinal duel between Argentinian-Chilean pair Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry and French duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.
Marin Čilić will play in the quarterfinal against Del Potro this afternoon at 15:15.
