Dinamo played a brilliant match to open the season and secured a great advantage in the Champions League qualifications.
The Croatian football fairytale continues. After Croatia became finalists at the World Cup in Russia, the current Croatian champion Dinamo played an impressive match to open the new season, defeating Israeli champions Hapoel Beer-Sheva 5:0 in the second qualifying round for the Champions League, reports Gol.hr on July 24, 2018.
Compared to last season, this significantly new Dinamo squad looked better than we expected. Since it was the first match of the new season, Dinamo was missing several important players, though their rival was unlucky, and the Zagreb club now has a considerable advantage ahead of the return match in Israel.
It was a rather open match in the first half, where Hapoel had their chances at Maksimir, but since football is only counted by goals, Dinamo showed they have players who can score.
Dinamo’s coach Nenad Bjelica has thus had successful preparations with his team, who looked physical and did not lag behind tactically; they played tight, disciplined, responsible, compact, harmonious, and were mostly synchronized. At no time did they panic.

Izet Hajrović opened the scoring-marathon in the 22nd minute, followed by Mislav Oršić (28), Arijan Ademi (51, 62) and Armin Hodžić (83).
Dinamo and Hapoel will meet in Beersheba on July 31 for the return match.
