Dinamo beat Slaven Belupo 2-1 in the final played in Osijek.
Dinamo has won one more title this year, as they beat Slaven Belupo 2-1 in the final of the Croatian Cup on May, 10, 2016. Marko Pjaca scored the first goal from the penalty spot for Dinamo; Muzafer Ejupi equalized in the sixty-first minute, and Marko Rog scored the winner in the seventy-first, after a big mistake by Slaven Belupo’s goalkeeper.
It was a rainy day in Osijek, and accordingly, the attendance for the game was low – just 2.262 people. There was the group of supporters from Koprivnica, and two groups of Dinamo’s fans; one supporting the club, and the other one, protesting against the way of the club is ruled at the moment.
It was a strange atmosphere for the final of a national competition. Janica Kostelić, the newly appointed deputy minister, was presenting the trophy in the name of the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović while Dinamo players were singing the victory song – in Portuguese.
To recap the season, now it is clear that Dinamo is in the qualifications for the Champions League, while Rijeka, Hajduk, and Lokomotiva have earned qualifications for the Europa League.
