A New Medal for Croatia: Donna Vekić is in the Olympic Final!

August 1, 2024 – With an excellent performance in the semifinals, Donna Vekić has booked her spot in the final and secured a new medal for Croatia at the Olympic Games in Paris!

Donna defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-0 and entered the historic final of the Olympic tournament in Paris.

Vekić played the semifinal match against the surprise of the tournament, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, a Slovakian tennis player ranked 67th in the world.

On the way to the semifinals, Vekić beat Bronzetti, Andreescu, Gauff and Kostyuk in a dramatic match that lasted three hours.

21-year-old Chinese tennis player Qinwen Zheng, the #7 women’s player in the world, awaits Donna in the final on Saturday. No matter the result, Donna will bring Croatia its first Olympic medal in women’s tennis.
