A day we have all been waiting for, Croatian footballer Šime Vrsaljko is ready to return to the pitch.

While we believe that it’s nearly impossible to forget about the stellar footballer that is Šime Vrsaljko, his absence to the pitch since March may require us to help you remember.

The 25-year-old Croat from Zadar currently plays as the right back for Atletico Madrid. Recovering from a left knee injury since March, apart from his footballing skills, the Croat may be best remembered for saving fellow teammate Fernando Torres’ life after he suffered a brutal blow to the head. A hero, you might say.

Today, we are finally able to deliver some rather exciting news that Šime has fully recovered from his left knee injury and is 100% prepared for the start of the new season, said Atlético Madrid’s website on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

In other good news, this also means that Vrsaljko will be ready for the next European qualifier for World Cup 2018 when Croatia will face Kosovo, just 42 days from now. Vrsaljko, a massive asset to Croatia’s defense, has definitely been missed in the last few national team matches.

“Our players, who have trained since the beginning of the pre-season with the group, are already available for Diego Pablo Simeone,” the club said in a statement.

Vrsaljko was injured on March 19, 2017, requiring him to spend four months in recovery. The Croatian right back suffered ‘a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and a grade I-II sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee.’

The Croat is on the list of players traveling to Mexico where Atletico will play a friendly match against the local Toluce club on Tuesday. Atletico’s La Liga season will begin on August 20, 2017, against Girona.
