Tin Srbić advanced to the final of this year’s Gymnastics World Championships in Doha in his strongest discipline – the high bar.
Current World Champion Tin Srbić has made it to the final of the World Championships in Doha in his strongest discipline, the high bar, with the fifth best qualifying result, reports Gol.hr on October 26, 2018.

In his training on Thursday, Srbić received a score of 14,300, but to confirm his place in the final set to take place on November 3, the Croatian gymnast had to wait for the qualifies to finish. In the end, Srbić finished fifth, and in front of him is Japanese gymnast Kohei Uchimura with 14,600 points, American gymnast Samuel Mikulak with 14,566, Chinese gymnast Ruoteng Xiao with 14,433 and Dutch gymnast Epke Zonderland with 14,400.

“Since I did not begin the exercise as I planned because I did not make the entire combination, I still managed to do it well to the end. I did really well. One month ago I could not even think of the final, so I’m very pleased. In the final, I will go with a stronger exercise, with an initial score of 6.4, and although I did not get to train because of injuries, I will do my best to fight for the medal in the final. The competition is terribly strong, this time Uchimura and Mikulak are in the final with Zonderland and me so the final will be really great,” Srbić recalled after his appearance in the qualifiers and announced his hope for another medal.
Srbić even competed against another Croatian gymnast, Anton Kovačević, at the Gymnastics World Championships
Anton Kovačević, the finalist of the last year’s European Championship in Cluj, also appeared in the high bar competition, though he scored a low 13,433 points and was ranked 41st in the competition of 197 gymnasts.
Croatia’s gymnasts in the pommel horse did not score high at the Gymnastics World Championships
Vice World Champion in Nanning Filip Ude scored 13,000 on the pommel horse in the qualifiers and finished 17th, while the silver medalist at the European Championship in Glasgow, Robert Seligman, with a somewhat weaker score of 12,400 took 44th place. Debutant on the international stage Leonardo Kušan recorded 11,300 points for his pommel horse exercise to come in 96th place. There were 202 gymnasts participating in the pommel horse competition.
Sunday’s qualifiers will feature only one Croatian representative, Ana Đerek.
