After 10,945 spectators filled Poljud against Osijek, Hajduk’s average attendance at Poljud this season is 11,979.
Although Hajduk has not flourished with results in the last decade, the Split club has something no one else in the Croatian football league can boast – a full stadium, announces Goal.hr on May 13, 2018.
The audience, which is led by Torcida, is always Hajduk’s 12th player, and their allegiance to watching their club in the flesh did not disappoint even this season. Moreover, the average attendance at Poljud this season is 11,979 spectators, which breaks a 20-year-old record from the 1998/99 season!
For Hajduk to have beaten the average number of spectators in their final home game this season against Osijek, 8,650 spectators were needed. As expected, the masters from the sea surpassed it, counting 10,495 spectators at the Split football stadium this evening.
The Hajduk PR team started a clever media campaign a month ago as a way to encourage fans to come to Poljud to overcome the 1998/99 season record. Back then, the Split club saw 11,875 spectators on average per home game.
Thus, fans of the 107-year-old Split first league team, who already count more than 31,000 members this year, have once again proved their worth – and so the saying goes: “When they win, and when they lose, we are always loyal to our Hajduk!”
