The seventeenth round of the Croatian First League was held from Friday, November 24, 2017, to Sunday, November 26, 2017.

A somewhat exciting round for the Croatian First League over the weekend as we finally have some positive movement Rijeka, Dinamo was eventually unable to pull out a win, and Hajduk, Osijek, and Rijeka are neck-and-neck for the second place spot on the table.

Without further ado, here is our round 17 recap from November 24 to 26, 2017.

Inter Zaprešić v. Lokomotiva (1:1)

Inter and Lokomotiva kicked off the first game of the 17th round on Friday, November 24, 2017, in Zaprešić.

The two teams, already in a constant fight in the middle of the standings, made sure neither of them let up for this match. While the first half went without a goal, Lokomotiva’s Sunjić found the back of the net at the start of the second half in the 53rd minute.

Lokomotiva’s lead did not last long, though, and Mazalović stepped up to nail a penalty given to Inter in the 58th minute. The game ended 1:1.

Slaven Belupo v. Istra 1961 (2:0)

Slaven Belupo and Istra met for the second match of the 17th round on Saturday, November 25, 2017, in Koprivnica.

The game started off with a bang for Belupo as Pejić scored the first goal for the home side in the 3rd minute. While the rest of the first half and nearly all of the second half went without another goal, it was Ivanovski for Belupo to find the back of the net in the 91st minute for 2:0.

Belupo is currently in 7th place with 20 points while Istra is in 9th place with 13 points.

Hajduk v. Osijek (1:1)

Hajduk and Osijek met for the third match of round 17 on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Poljud.

A derby of sorts and what should have been an exciting match considering the two clubs were fighting for second place did not live up to our expectations.

While Hajduk came out to play in the first half, it was Osijek to score first after Grgić capitalized on a mistake in Hajduk’s defense. The game was 0:1 at the half.

With unpleasant Torcida chants and whistles heard throughout the stadium, we were hoping for a much better second half. While Hajduk did have opportunities, it wasn’t until the 92nd minute of the game that Hajduk’s Said equalized. The game ended 1:1.

Rudeš v. Dinamo (1:1)

Rudeš and Dinamo met on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Kranjčevićeva.

One of the rare times we see Dinamo go without a league win, we tip our hats to Rudeš for scoring the first goal of the duel after Kamenar found the back of the net in the 44th minute. The game was 1:0 for Rudeš at the half.

While many of us were hoping Dinamo wouldn’t find a way to equalize to, at the very least, close the gap on the table, it was Hodzić who scored for Dinamo in the 72nd minute for 1:1.

Dinamo’s Moro was given a red card in the 91st minute, and the game ended 1:1.

Cibalia v. Rijeka (1:2)

The final match of the 17th round was played with Cibalia and Rijeka on Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Vinkovci.

The game started off just right for Rijeka as Gorgon found the back of the net in the 18th minute for 0:1, and Gavranović saw it again only five minutes later for 0:2.

Nearly ten minutes later, it was Pervan who came back for Cibalia in the 32nd minute for 1:2. Without any goals in the second half, the game ended 1:2 for Rijeka.
