Croatian footballer Vedran Ćorluka was injured in yesterday’s meeting against Lokomotiv Moscow and Spartak Moscow.
The Croatian defender, who has played 95 times for the Croatian national team and scored 4 goals, sustained an injury which forced him to leave the pitch yesterday, reported Vecernji List on March 18, 2017. “Ćorluka will be out at least two weeks,” announced Lokomotiv Moscow after the meeting.
The statement from HNS confirming Ćorluka’s injury on March 18, 2017, reads:
“Croatia welcomes Ukraine at Maksimir stadium on March 24 as part of the qualification for the World Cup, and four days later Croatia will be a guest in Tallinn to play a friendly match with Estonia.
Vedran Ćorluka, a defender for the national team and Lokomotiv Moscow, had to come off the original player list presented by coach Ante Čačić due to an injury to his hamstrings.
Ćorluka was injured on Saturday in a league match for his team against city rivals Spartak Moscow, which ended without a winner (1:1). Ćorluka played in the starting lineup but at halftime was replaced with Nemanja Pejčinović.
Ante Čaćić immediately heard the news about his reliable defender, and Čačić will now invite a new player instead of Ćorluka.”
