President of the Croatian Football Federation Davor Šuker responds to today’s claims by Gazzetta dello Sport.
Davor Šuker, the president of the Croatian Football Federation, has responded to claims made by Italian sports journal Gazzette della Sport that the national team is in negotiation with Italian football coach Carlo Ancelotti, announces HNS on October 19, 2017.
The Italian journal announced today in their printed edition that the former Bayern Munich coach has a desire to lead Croatia after the upcoming World Cup playoffs this November.
The HNS President responded:
“I am disappointed that world-renowned media such as La Gazzetta dello Sport is the source of this kind of disinformation, typical ‘false news’, which is commonly reported by less reputable media in search of sensation. I can only say that Zlatko Dalić will lead the Croatian national team and we are all exclusively focused on the matches against Greece in the additional qualifiers for the World Cup.”
Šuker continued:
“We are accustomed to the fact that most Croatian media hurry to convey this kind of falsehood – and all news that is aimed at destabilizing or undermining the Federation gets noticeable space in the media. Unfortunately, that is nothing new, and we will continue to work in the interest of Croatian football. That is why, ahead of these decisive matches, I invite all of us to come together, and for the media to display objectivity and truth,” concluded HNS President Davor Šuker.
Early this morning, Gazzetta dello Sport announced in their printed edition that the Croatian Football Federation was in negotiation with coach Carlo Ancelotti to lead the national team, providing they advance to World Cup in Russia next year.
While much of this sounded a bit unusual, even for the Croatian Football Federation, Croatian media was quick to jump on the story – also offering reports that the expected high salary of Ancelotti may be the only thing standing in the way of moving forward with the Italian coach.
