How Long Will Luka Modrić Stay off the Field?

Total Croatia News

Captain of the Croatian football team Luka Modrić (31) may be out between three and four weeks due to an injury of the inner thigh muscle of the right leg which he sustained at the Real Madrid game versus Malaga, the Spanish media estimated on Sunday, a day before the Croatian footballer will undergo medical tests in Madrid

Modrić left the pitch of Santiago Bernabeu in the 78th minute, replaced by his national team colleague Mateo Kovačić. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said at a media conference that Modrić is having physical problems, after which the team spokesperson Carlos Carbajosa confirmed the issue is with the adductor of the right leg, Jutarnji List reported on January 22, 2017.

Sports dailies Marca and As reported on Sunday that Modrić may be out from three to four weeks. The captain of the Croatian national team had injured his adductor, the inner thigh muscle of the right leg, in June at a European Championship game against the Czech Republic. After that he paused the next game versus Spain and played in the following against Portugal.

If the Real Madrid doctors confirm the recovery time of a month, the Croatian midfielder will miss championship games against Real Sociedad, Celte Vigo and Osasuna and the second quarterfinal game of the Spanish King Cup versus Celta, where Real is behind by 1-2 from the first game played in Madrid. By estimates from the Spanish media, Modrić could be back for the first game of the eighth finals of Champions League, set for February 15 in Madrid versus Naples.
