Croatia will fight in the new UEFA Nations League against Spain and England.

As reported by Gol.hr on July 26, 2018, the Croatian national football team will play on September 11th against Spain in the newly formed Nations league, and tickets to the match in the southern town of Elche will be sold for 20 to 70 euro, the Spanish Football Federation said on Thursday.

Croatia will be visiting the Martínez Valero stadium, home of Elche, which has a capacity of 33,732 seats.

Five days earlier, Croatia will play a friendly match in Portugal, which will be their first appearance after winning the silver medal at the World Cup in Russia.

Spain, who lost in the World Cup round of 16 to Russia on penalties, will play their first game after the championship and simultaneously debut their new coach, Luis Enrique. The Spanish side has not played in Elche for ten years, and as they fight against the World Cup finalists, the Spanish Football Federation expects a full stadium.

Ticket sales will begin online from August 9th and will be sold at the box office from September 6th to September 10th. The match will take place on Tuesday, September 11th at 20:45.

The Spain national team have never lost in Elche, a city about 150 kilometers from Valencia on the Mediterranean Sea. The traditionally agricultural area with about 220,000 inhabitants is also known for producing footwear.

Spain has not played in Elche since March 2008 when they defeated Italy in a friendly match 1:0. The goal was scored by attacker David Villa, and that same year, Spain claimed the European Championship title in Austria and Switzerland. Before the game against Italy, Spain also defeated Egypt in 2006, Ukraine in 2003, Macedonia in 1995 and Belgium in 1986 in Elche.
