Rugby All Black Star Anthony Boric Recovers After Neck Op on Hvar

Looking for a place to chill and recover after surgery. Some people choose Hvar… 

For a small island, I am constantly amazed at how much Hvar appears with recommendations in the international media. The big media story doing the rounds at the moment is its inclusion in the New York Times list of 46 places to visit in 2013, which we brought to you 15 minutes after the list was published online, but Hvar also appears in more remote and less obvious places.

Places such as New Zealand’s Otago Daily Times, whose readers can read another recommendation about Hvar, this time from All Black rugby star Anthony Boric, who visited his Croatian roots last year, as part of his recuperation following neck surgery:

“I have family in a small town halfway between Split and Dubrovnik and on the island of Hvar [in the Adriatic Sea]. It was nice to visit my relatives, they turn it on – I was definitely well fed. Hvar was probably my favourite spot. I did a cruise for a week with a few mates. Being out in the islands jumping off a boat and swimming for hours was so peaceful.

“With rugby, you travel a lot but you’ve always got a schedule to keep. Over there, I could chill out for a while.”
