Discus thrower Sandra Perković has won the Diamond League in London and has clinched this prestigious competition two meets ahead of the end
On Saturday, the second day of the London Daimond League meeting, Sandra has confirmed her role of favourite and best world discus thrower, winning with her second throw of 69.94 metres and breaking the London meet record, Index.hr wrote on July 23, 2016.
Perković made her winning throw in the second series, while the remaining five throws were valid and also potential winners (64.80, 67.80, 66.63, 66.98 i 66.42).
Sandra also broke the record by East German Ilke Wyludda of 68.04 metres made 26 years ago, while her win in London gives her the maximum score in the Diamond League – five competitions, five wins.
Second in London was Australian Dani Samuels with 64.10 metres, also in the second series.
Sandra had 40 points ahead of London, 28 ahead of the second-place Cuban Caballero, and the new ten points make Perković the mathematical winner in the Diamond League.
After a very convicing European gold, winning hte League is a great announcement of her upcoming performance in Rio where she will defend Olympic gold, won in London four years ago.
