Eco-Friendly City: Samobor Installs Solar Powered Bus Stops

Daniela Rogulj

The city of Samobor has invested in a new smart solution.

Citizens and visitors of Samobor will now be able to carry on with their daily activities much easier as they can now charge their mobile phones while waiting for the bus, reports Samobor.hr on March 8, 2017.

Solar bus stops have been installed at two of the busiest locations in the city of Samobor: one in the center of the city and the other in Juzno naselje.

These new bus stops enable the charging of mobile phones and tablets, the use of Wi-Fi networks (which will be activated in a few days), and are equipped with LED lighting. The product itself is actually Croatian – an innovation in the field of environmental protection while increasing the quality of life.

In addition to the solar bus stops, the city of Samobor has set up three independent energy smart benches that provide information, can charge mobile phones and tablets, and have hotspots that serve as the city lights at night. Samobor also has electric charging stations for electric vehicles, and soon, the lights throughout the entire city will be replaced by LED lighting. The city of Samobor also uses the GIS system and platform E-roads.

Talk about an eco-friendly city, bravo Samobor!
