Improvements will include new showers, changing areas, playgrounds, walkways etc.

As reported by Novi List on November 21, 2015, results of the survey by the Department of Tourism of Istrian County, conducted this autumn in all Istrian municipalities and cities, show that more than 1 million euros will be invested in Istrian beaches just in time for season 2016.

Funtana will invest the largest amount of money for its beaches, 2,4 million kuna to be exact. Poreč follows with investments of 2 million kuna, Medulin with 1,1 million, Pula 900 000, Vrsar 302 000 and Rovinj 256 000 kuna. Funtana will invest the above mentioned amount in refurbishing and equiping a new 970 m beach between the Bijela uvala campsite and Perila bay.

Poreč has been investing significant amounts in its beaches for several years now, and this time around, thanks to the co-financing project with the Ministry of Tourism, it will refurbish a part of the main city beach (Gradsko kupalište), Saladinka beach and the third part of Srgulje beach. Municipality of Medulin will spend the allocated funds on one of very few sand beaches in Istria – Bijeca. The rest of the money will be spent on three other beaches in Pomer, Vinkuran, Sand bay, Pješčana Uvala and Banjole.

Vodnjan will continue with the refurbishment of its beach between Portić and Peroj while Pula will invest its allocated funds and additional funds if they receive a grant from the Ministry of Tourism for Hidrobaza project, documentation for Valovine beach and beach on Fratarski otok while Rovinj will spend its own funds on Borik beach.

All beaches will be equipped with new changing areas, showers, children’s playgrounds, walkways and all other features that will help provide memorable summer experiences for both locals and tourists.
