Next year’s new flight announcements are not confined to the Croatian coast, reports Avioradar on December 20, 2016.
More new traffic for the Croatian skies next summer, as Wizz Air has announced that it will be commencing flights to the Slavonian city of Osijek.
The Hungarian low-cost carrier will initially fly twice a week from Basel, with flights starting on May 19, and it follows the arrival of Ryanair, which operates a London Stansted to Osijek route.
After a strong initial interest in the Croatian market, including a popular route from London Luton to Zagreb, Wizz Air scaled back its operations to Croatia, only operating a summer route from Luton to Split. Last summer, however, the airline added a second route – Warsaw to Split – and this latest announcement could signal the start of a renewed engagement in the Croatian market, with is dominated by budget airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair and Norwegian.
