The wildly popular Dubrovnik promotional film ”Dubrovnik and Time” has been rated among the top 10 tourist films in the world.
The now famous promotional film was directed by BALDUCI FILM from Zagreb last year, and won numerous prestigious awards in various categories all over the world. Following such a good run comes the biggest title yet – Dubrovnik and Time has been chosen as one of the top ten tourist films in the world, awarded with the Nominee for the Grand Prix for the best tourism film worldwide.
The best of the best was declared as Turkey’s impressive promo, Turkey: Home of Turquoise.
The announcement was given today at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna.
It all began with a big prize at the ITB tourism fair in Berlin, where Dubrovnik and Time won second place among 1,500 films of the sort, followed by a Bronze Medal in the New York where Dubrovnik and Time was the only Croatian entry in very strong competition of hundreds of equally stunning films, among them were promotions for massive companies with large budgets like Nike and Jaguar. An award followed in Las Vegas during the largest world fair organisation in the US National Association of Broadcasters, another award followed in the Tourfilm festival in the Latvian capital of Riga, where Dubrovnik and Time took second place among 170 similar films from 44 countries and won the Mention award. In Portugal, the film won two awards at the Finisterra festival amongst very strong competition between a huge 232 films from 87 countries – 1st place in the category of Historic Cities and 3rd place in the Destination category. On to the Baku International Tourism Film Festival in Azerbaijan under the organisation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan – Dubrovnik and Time was awarded the Grand Prix Prize for the best film in the festival amongst 400+ films from 71 countries. It doesn’t stop there! In Lublin, Poland, the film won the award for ”Best Promotional Film Up To Five Minutes” at the FilmAT festival of tourism. In Los Angeles, the capital of the film industry – Dubrovnik and Time took home the Silver Screen Award, at SILAFEST (the festival of tourist films in Serbia) the film won the award for the best editing, and a bit closer to home at the Zagreb Tourfilm Festival, it won two awards: 3rd place in the category of the ”Best Film Up To Seven Minutes” and the best Croatian Tourist Film. No, we still aren’t finished yet – Dubrovnik and Time went on to take second place in Porto in the category of Tourism Destinations. It won the Baldo Cupic award for the best Croatian tourist film in the festival of tourist films in Split.
Good news has since arrived from as far away as the Maldives, a global tourism haven, where Dubrovnik and Time won first place in the category of ”Best Cognitive Film” among over 200 other films from 15 countries, of which 46 were nominated for the same award. From that, only 10 films were awarded as the best, and Dubrovnik is proudly one of them.
”This most recent award is a great recognition for both Croatian tourism and film promotion of Croatia as a tourist destination” stated Spomenka Saraga, the producer of the award winning film, along with David Cooper, the co-producer of the film, who are now in the Austrian capital of Vienna to receive the prestigious award.
