A cosmetic change to improve the level of quality on the beaches of Hvar Town has been announced, reports Dalmacija Danas on January 5, 2017.
2018 is going to be a big year for Hvar Town as it celebrates 150 years of the birth of organised tourism in Europe with the founding of the Hvar Health Society in 1868. The first 5-star hotel on the island is set to open in the town, and other major hotels, Adriana and Amfora, are currently undergoing a facelift as well.
New Mayor Rikardo Novak’s plans to improve the quality of tourism continue. In the latest move, it has been announced that new standards will be expected for this season on the nearby beaches and other maritime areas in the town’s jurisdiction.
For all businesses with a concession in maritime areas, out got the plastic sunbeds, which should now be replaced by wooden ones, and for a far more visual effect, business advertising on awnings and umbrellas is to be drastically reduced. Under the new rules, the only colours to be permitted will be white and off-white, while all brand advertising will be restricted to the lower and less prominent part of awnings and umbrellas. The new rules will be enforced by municipal officers.
