Lonely Planet Picks Out Croatia’s 10 Best Beaches

Total Croatia News

Updated on:

Popular travel magazine Lonely Planet has recently published a list of ten best beaches in Croatia.

Many travel magazines and websites have already written about Croatia’s beautiful coast and islands or have included Croatia in their lists of the most beautiful islands, beaches, towns, you name it. Conde Nast Traveler has recently published their top 8 islands in Croatia, and have included Zlatni Rat in the top ten beaches in Europe.

This time, popular travel magazine and the largest travel guide book publisher, Lonely Planet, has chosen a list of ten best beaches in Croatia, based on various preferences tourists might have.

“With 1777km of indented coast on the mainland and a further 4058km edging its 1246 islands and islets, Croatia has no shortage of beaches. Many are rocky, some are sandy and others are lined with smooth, white pebbles, but all are lapped by the warm, clear waters of the Adriatic. It would be an exaggeration to say that there’s something for everyone – surfers should look elsewhere – but most people should find something on this list to suit their holiday needs,” writes travel expert Peter Dragicevich.

Although, we might get nitpicky and add that there is actually a couple of great beaches for surfing as well. Just see our list of top five destinations for windsurfing.

So, what are the top ten beaches in Croatia according to Lonely Planet?

  1. Best for inducing Instagram envy: Zlatni Rat (Brač island)
  2. Best for sand and swims: Prapratno (Mljet island)
  3. Best for young kids: Paradise Beach (Rab island)
  4. Best for boaters: Stiniva (Vis island)
  5. Best for clubbers: Zrće Beach (Pag island)
  6. Best for respite between drinks: Dubovica (Hvar island)
  7. Best for nature: Cape Kamenjak (Istria)
  8. Best for naturists: Sahara Beach (Rab island)
  9. Best for shady pines: Punta Rata (Brela)
  10. Best for seclusion and a post-swim workout: Lubenice (Cres)
