Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli officially visited Primorje-Gorski Kotar County today.
Specifically, the visit was held in the municipality of Skrad where the head of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, Vinko Prizmić, and Gari Cappelli signed agreements for the co-financing of operations and activities for CMRS during 2017, reports HRTurizam on April 10, 2017.
The Ministry of Tourism has agreed to grant 1.5 million HRK in financial support to CMRS for 2017. One million of the total amount will be used for the improvement of security and the protection and rescue of tourists in areas outside towns and public roads, while the remaining 500,000 will be used to prepare the adventure tourism project “Tour de CroActive”- the development of active tourism in line with the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy on the structure of EU funds.
The project is aimed at the development of safe and sustainable active tourism through the valorisation of the natural and cultural heritage and other human, spatial and socio-economic resources of Croatia at local, regional, national and international levels. The project is conducted in collaboration with partners from the private, public and civil sector from Croatia, the European Union, and neighboring countries.
“Croatia is a safe tourist destination, and security is one of our key competitive advantages. Last year, we achieved great tourist results, and an important contribution was made by CMRS who has been a loyal partner of ours for many years. According to all indications we are looking forward to a great travel year for 2017 during which, like all of the years before, we want tourists to be provided with a safe and quality stay in our country,” said Minister Cappelli.
Prizmić presented the “Tour de CroActive” project, stressing at the same time the importance of tourism to the continent in the future, which, according to him, will be the engine of development.
The Ministry of Tourism has financially supported CMRS since 2003 and has funded the organization with 13 million HRK to date.
