It has been quite a year for the inland Dalmatian town of Imotski, and the promotion continues on November 8, 2017, with the release of a new official promo video.
Tucked away behind Biokovo, close to the border with Bosnian and Herzegovina (so close that one winemaker there has half his vineyards in Croatia and half outside the EU across the border), one of the most remarkable tourism growth stories in Croatia is quietly taking place – Imotski.
A town of rich tradition and culture, but one which has never realised its full potential. Until now. Blessed with the unique natural treasures of the Red and Blue Lakes, excellent wine and a host of Dalmatian traditions, Imostki is quickly establishing itself as an attractive destination away from the coast, and one which the Croatian President recently labelled the ‘Croatian Provence.’ The opening of the motorway from Split to Ploce helped raise the town’s visibility, and the opening of a tunnel under Biokovo has reduced travel times to the beaches of the Makarska Riviera. This has made Imotski a more attractive place to be based on holiday. An authentic Dalmatian experience away from the crowds at the beach, but quickly accessible. There has been an explosion of quality accommodation in and around the town, with no less than 56 villas with pools.
Not content to rest on its laurels, the Imotski Tourism Board has been involved in several fantastic projects this year to highlight the adrenaline nature of the tourist offer, including six Austrians slacklining over the Red Lake and a Frenchman becoming the first person ever to reach the bottom of the same lake.
A new promotional video was released yesterday, a really really good one, showcasing the finest Imotski has to offer. A visit is highly recommended.
