Čiovo – Trogir Bridge, new Soline ferry port are just few of the new projects in Trogir

The City of Trogir commemorated its day on Saturday, November 14, 2015 with a special City Council assembly and a whole string of events and concerts throughout city streets and squares.

Along with the Mayor and members of the city council, numerous guests attended the special assembly including the Rector of Split University Šimun Anđelinović, Deputy County Prefect Luka Brčić, Mayor of Vukovar Ivn Penava and representatives from friend cities from across Europe.

During his speech, Mayor of Trogir Ante Stipčić noted that this year’s city birthday is special because it is the year when the construction of the much awaited Čiovo bridge finally began. Inhabitants of Trogir and Čiovo have been waiting for this crucial piece of infrastructure for more than two decades and it should be completed by the end of 2016, meaning those horrible traffic jams we all got stuck in at least once should come to an end.

“At the moment, Trogir is one large construction site, projects worth several million kuna are being developed, and the Čiovo – Trogir Bridge is the jewel in our crown” – said Mayor Stipčić.  He also mentioned the recently opened firehouse, new roundabout in Pantana and listed some of the projects that will be completed by the end of his term such as the new kindergarten Plano which will be built in cooperation with EU funds, construction of a new church, substation on island Drvenik and many others.

A cooperation agreement between the City of Trogir and University of Split was signed during the special assembly which will enable financial support for gifted students that wish to implement their knowledge in the region they came from. Rector of the University of Split Šimun Anđelinović stated that Trogir, considering its economic and intellectual capacities, is a great area for new ideas and entrepreneurial achievements “This is our way of preventing the exodus of young people who are leaving their country because they don’t see any perspective”, said Anđelinović.
