I was sitting in front of a cafe in Rijeka yesterday around 19:00. It was sunny, close to 30C, and I was mad at myself for deciding to wear skinny jeans. Suddenly, the weather gods unleashed a horrifying wave of wrath and bombarded us with hail and violent rain. The outburst lasted for about 15 minutes, then stopped, like nothing has even happened.
The same thing was going on in Istria earlier today, only ten times stronger. A thick layer of hail covered the ground around Plomin and Labin, making the area look like you’ve walked into a winter scene. The road between Labin and the village of Vozilići is currently closed, and the locals say they’ve never seen such weather conditions in the middle of summer, reports 24 sata on July 26, 2017.
Istramet published multiple videos sent in by readers, showing incredible scenes taking place in eastern Istria at the moment. The temperature dropped as low as 13 degrees Celsius, proving that even when you think you’ve seen everything, nature can always surprise you.
