According to Greek legend, Odysseus was ship wrecked on Mljet Island and swam to this cave where he met a beautiful nymph called Calypso – He stayed, captivated by the nymph for the next seven years.
True or not, the cave can be accessed by swimming into it or descending via a narrow path. The spot is also popular with cliff divers plunging into the pristine Adriatic water.
Mljet Island is a remote location, home to the Mljet National Park, a place known for turquoise sea water lakes and unspoiled nature.
