When you awake surrounded by sub-zero temperatures, it helps to recall the summertime. When the mighty oily extractness poured over the palate somewhere in the shadow of Vis sunshine.

This high viscosity balance does not fit into modern conventions. But it fits into Vis. The absorbed bitterness of sun served on a foundation of spice and medicinal island herbs.

Instead of fruit savouriness, deep saltiness and minerality.

Instead of acid vivaciousness, stillness.

All’antica… not vividly rustic, but traditional winemaking. There are few such convincing wines today for this money.

Still, not as persistent or elegant as Bugava. Truly, 2016 Bugava Roki’s and 2016 Vugava Radan, the best of Vugava and from an excellent year at that.
