After the first day of the European Taekwondo Championships, Croatian team gets the first medal.
Great news from Croatian athletes continue to arrive daily from continental championships. On May 19, 2016, Lucija Zaninović won a bronze medal at the European Taekwondo Championships in Montreux, Switzerland. The member of TC Marjan Split has got the medal in -49 Kg category, and it is the fourth consecutive medal for her at the European Championships, as she has won three golds in the last three appearances.
It is a great achievement, as Lucija has announced that her main focus is on the Olympic Tournament in Rio later this summer, and even though she will do her best at the European Championships, she wants to reach her peak form in Rio.
On the path to the medal, Lucija has won against Greek’s Agni Danai Chioti 13-1 in the second round, as she was seeded and was free in the first. In the quarterfinal, she got better of Turkey’s Ipek Cidem 8-2, and in the semifinal, she lost to Serbian Tijana Bogdanović 2-4.
