The first photography book of Zagreb murals and graffiti titled “STREET/ART/ZAGREB” published by Peščenica Culture Centre (KNAP), the work of Anja Planinčić, will be presented on February 10, 2017 at 19:30h in the KNAP Centre at Ivanićgradska street 41a in Zagreb
The photography book is made up of 28 pages, with over 200 works and 95 authors included, who have left their mark on Zagreb streets for the past 15 years.
The KNAP Centre has been following street art of Zagreb for many years, so this book is a logical continuation of the involvement in the urban culture of Pečenica and beyond. This printed edition will be a keepsake for art on walls, as this type of street creativity does have a life span.
“Street art is art of the identity of Zagreb. It contours its urban face. The face of a modern European metropolis. On Zagreb’s walls, under its bridges, in the passageways and in many other less visible spaces there are works which deserve to be remembered, very often hidden from the general public. Besides domestic authors, the streets of Zagreb host a line of works from artists from around the world. Painted walls make up living street galleries accessible to all, galleries which change their exhibitions through a dynamic of outer circumstances. The story of graffiti, of this photography book, starts from Peščenica but will try to present a complete and rounded image of the entire Zagreb scene. Hence this book will be an album of sorts of the street art of Zagreb from the beginning of the millennium,” said the author, Anja Planinčić.
After the official promotion, you are invited to join the after party with DJ Chill in the foyer of the KNAP Centre theatre.
