More controversy surrounding the stricter border controls in Croatia as SDP’s candidate for Prefect of Dubrovnik-Neretva County speaks up.
Davor Penic of SDP placed significant emphasis on finding a way to resolve the current problems facing border crossings following regulations which came into force on April the 7th 2017 and caused unexpectedly long and frustrating waiting times.
As DuList reported, SDP’s would-be Prefect of Dubrovnik-Neretva County appealed to the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Finance to ensure a greater number of police officers and customs officers are present at border crossings to speed up certain procedures, validly pointing out that many patients from the Dubrovnik area have to go for certain medical and therapeutic procedures in Split, and therefore there should be an established regimen for those patients to cross the border more easily. He added that such procedures would be necessary to reduce the ”frustration of our people”, particularly during the height of the tourist season when waiting times at Croatia’s border crossings will be at their most lengthy.
”Waiting at the border should not be the main memory for tourists” stated Penic.
