Every summer, Fort Punta Christo in Štinjan near the city of Pula turns into a festival venue
This season will again see no less than four music festivals taking place at the fort: Slurp!, Seasplash, Dimensions and Outlook, with Slurp! marking the beginning of summer on June 17th, reports Novi list on April 28th, 2017. This year, two of the festivals are celebrating important milestones: it’s the 10th anniversary of Outlook festival, and the 15th anniversary of Seasplash.
Slurp! is split into four separate music events, each taking place in a different summer month to present a collage of distinguished artists. This year’s first event will be lead by the Croatian producer residing in Berlin, Andrea Ljekaj. Other perfomers are yet to be announced.
Seasplash is a four day music festival that honours the culture of reggae, dub, drum & bass, dancehall, ska, world music and various electronic music. This year it will take place between July 20th and 23rd and feature shows by Vin Gordon & the Real Rock Band, Mad Professor, Vibronics Meets Conscious Sound, Citizen Fish, Culture Shock and many others. Dimensions is back with its sixth edition from August 30th to September 3rd. The opening concert is traditionally taking place in the Roman Amphitheatre in Pula on the first night of the festival, this year’s headliners being the legendary Grace Jones, electronic trio Moderat, jazz trio Yussef Kamaal and Moses Boyd: Solo X. The festival continues on Punta Christo the following day with carefully curated electronic music programme that’s spanning across genres such as house, techno, disco, jazz, funk, soul, and drum & bass. The line-up will feature more than 80 performers including Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Floating Points, Cymande, Nina Kraviz, Danny Krivit, Ata Kak, Hessle Audio, Levon Vincent, and Caribou. The end of the season will be marked by Outlook, known as the largest Soundsystem Culture festival in Europe. Outlook is opened by a concert in the Arena in Pula as well, this year’s edition taking place on September 6th featuring Dizzee Rascal, DJ Shadow and The Outlook Orchestra. The festival continues on the fort until September 10th, with a line-up featuring more than 90 names such as Ghostface Killah, David Rodigan, Roots Manuva, Mad Professor, Shy FX, Loyle Carner, Rockwell, Chronixx & Zinc Fence Redemption Band, Congo Natty, Amy Becker, and Alix Perez.
