Marking the anniversary, IKEA has published statistics for the past three years.
On Monday, IKEA Zagreb celebrated the third anniversary of operations in Croatia. It organised a number of events to mark the anniversary and has also published the “First three years in figures” presentation, reports Poslovni.hr on August 22, 2017.
According to the publication, among the best-selling products in Croatia are LED bulbs, which IKEA uses to encourage citizens to live a more sustainable living. A total of 585,845 LED bulbs were sold, which enabled people in Croatia to achieve annual savings of 133,204,297 kWh or 58,210,277.80 kunas.
Additionally, according to an independent study of Moj Posao website, in the first year of operations, IKEA was selected as the best employer among large companies.
Over the past three years, IKEA has also been striving to give its contribution to a better life in the community in which it operates. It donated 500 kitchens to the restored homes flooded in Gunja, equipped the winter refugee camp and, in cooperation with the UNHCR, gave raincoats and educational toys for refugee children.
IKEA also participated in the UNICEF project in Sisak, which equipped schools and preschool facilities for 120 children from vulnerable groups in the Sisak area with new furniture and didactic equipment.
From October to December 2016, IKEA had a temporary store in the centre of Zagreb. After its closure, all furniture was donated to a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Zagreb and to an association that cares for children without proper parental care. During the Christmas holidays, money earned by the sale of plush toys was paid to the IKEA Foundation, which advocates for educating vulnerable children all over the world.
In July, an IKEA delivery centre was opened in Rijeka, and another such centre is soon coming to Split as well.
Next to the IKEA store, the construction of the largest outlet complex in Croatia, Designer Outlet Croatia, is underway. IKEA, together with its business partners, will invest 88 million euros in the project. In addition to some 400 new jobs, the outlet centre will also include a marketplace where local producers of organic fruits and vegetables will be able to sell their products at a minimum fee.
