Flixbus came to Croatia last year.
The European bus operator FlixBus has tripled the number of passengers transported to Croatian and European destinations this summer compared to last year, announced the company on Tuesday, reports Jutarnji List on August 29, 2017.
The company pointed out that they have been present in the Croatian market only for a little bit more than a year, and added that the greatest number of passengers in Croatia travelled to Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Pula, while those going abroad mostly went to Munich in Germany, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Vienna in Austria, and Budapest in Hungary.
“It is evident that our approach has changed the traditional bus transportation business so that buses are still a necessary form of transportation, but now they are cool as well, providing affordable prices and a high level of service, in line with the demand of modern passengers and the digital business environment,” said director of development of FlixBus for the Central and Eastern Europe Dean Čebohin.
FlixBus was among the first bus companies in Croatia to offer the option of bus travel in line with digital developments, in which the planning of travel and ticket purchasing take place via smart phones, with the identification of passengers via QR codes and the internet, offering passengers a free wi-fi connection, power sockets next to the seats, and other new services on routes connecting 26 European countries and more than 1,200 destinations.
“In addition to the Croatian market, we see a positive trend in other countries as well. For example, in Italy, where FlixBus has been operating for two years, the number of passengers this year has increased by 70 percent compared to the last year, while in Europe, in general, the growth is about 30 percent,” said the company.
They explain that, by the end of this year, they will transport more than 100 million passengers on all European routes. The company was founded as a start-up in 2013, and currently, has a network of routes across Europe with more than 200,000 daily connections.
