If you still haven’t built a swimming pool for your tourism object, is not too late to get the grant for 2016
After first three rounds of this initiative proved extremely successful, Ministry of Tourism will once again give out grants for the construction of swimming pools in tourism objects. According to the release issued by the Ministry on March 10, 2016, a public tender will be published by the end of March.
The exact amount is still unknown, it will be made public after the annual budget is accepted, but it is expected it will be the same as last year – 8,5 million kunas. Minister Anton Kliman confirmed that they will keep supporting the construction of swimming pools because any project that elevates the quality of available accommodation should be supported: “Expansion of our offer and improvement of accommodation quality are key factors in the development of Croatian tourism. Especially when it comes to services that will help attract out of season guests, periods in which we have room to grow. That is why the Ministry will continue to give grants in order for all of us to use that potential and to make our tourism even more competitive” Kliman stated.
Since the grant program started back in 2013, Ministry of Tourism co-financed 447 swimming pool construction projects, mostly for private accommodation owners. More than 18,8 million kunas has been paid out for this purpose and the highest proved amount was, on average, 40 000 kuna per project.
When it comes to terms and conditions of the public tender, it is expected they will remain the same, so you can apply if you are building and equipping a swimming pool bigger than 30 square metres (outdoor pool) or 20 square metres (indoor pool).
According to last year’s tender, applicants had to have an object with at least 3 registered rooms (6 beds) or four accommodation units / 12 guests for campsites. In terms of category, objects had to have at least 3*. When it comes to documentation, applicants had to submit the title deed, excerpt from the Land registry and a tax clearance certificate proving that your tax affairs are in order at the date of issue of the Certificate.
Applicants must also submit design documentation and set exact commencement and completion dates. A construction permit is not required if the swimming pool is smaller than 100 square metres.
