Could this be the end for HNS leader Davor Šuker?
The Assembly for the new mandate of the leader of the Croatian Football Federation, won by Davor Šuker, could be reversed after the Sports Inspection found irregularities in its investigation, reports Gol.hr on March 2, 2018.
If you recall, the Assembly was held on December 22, 2017, and apart from the re-election of Davor Šuker, new members of the Executive Board were elected.
However, after the Assembly was held, the Sports Inspection combed through the record and found irregularities by which all decisions of the Assembly were illegal, including the choice of Davor Šuker.
The reason is that five of the members of the Executive Board at the time of the Assembly had not yet been discharged. At the same time, they were members of the Executive Board and representatives of the Assembly, and according to the Statute of the Croatian Football Federation, this cannot be so. Only 18 members at the time had the right to make decisions, which is not enough.
A serious flaw has been found, which should result in the annulment of the Assembly and all its decisions – this will ultimately mean new elections.
A decision on everything should be made by the City Office for General Administration of the City of Zagreb, as it is the competent authority notified by the Sports Inspection of the observed irregularities.
“Immediately after the Assembly I said it was illegal, I’m glad we have now received official confirmation,” said Dario Šimić, to whom Mario Stanić added:
“And during our campaign, we argued that HNS has become weaker, and with this finding of the Sports Inspection we got word that it really is. There is no presumption or grey zone anymore; we have proof that it really is the way we have argued.”
