The aim of the parking price increase is to make people more inclined to make use of Zagreb’s public transport.
In addition to the eyebrow-raising leap in prices, it is anticipated that a new, fifth zone will be opened, in which parking will be charged at an hourly rate.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 5th of April, 2018, the price of a parking ticket in zone 1 in Zagreb, with its new cost could amount to 10 kuna, which is a four kuna increase on what it has been so far.
As Jutarnji list has reported, Zagrebački Holding sent a document to the City of Zagreb a few days ago, and the topic of increasing the price of parking in the city was included in it. In addition to raising the prices in zone 1, prices would be increased in other zones as well: zone 2 would jump from the current three kuna to five kuna, and zone 3 would make the leap from 1.5 kuna to two kuna. As mentioned, plans for a potential fifth zone, running on an hourly charge, may also be in the works.
With the new prices, Zagrebački Holding’s profit would see a considerable increase of 38.7 million kuna, and this would, as stated in the aforementioned proposal, encourage people to ditch their cars and use public transport services, according to a report from tportal.
